Neil Anthony Lewis, Jr., PhD

Neil Lewis, Jr, PhD is Co-Director of the Cornell Action Research Collaborative, Associate Professor in the Department of Communication at Cornell University and Division of General Internal Medicine at Weill Cornell Medicine. He is a behavioral scientist who studies how interventions and policies can change behaviors to promote equitable outcomes in society. Lewis is interested in how people’s social contexts and identities influence how they make sense of the world around them, and the implications of those meaning-making processes for their motivation to pursue different goals in life. He is also interested in the consequences of these processes not only for individuals, but also for the communities and societies those individuals are embedded in. Most of his past research has focused on equity in education, health, and environmental sustainability.
